Switch Applications Engineer


We need an experienced Switch Applications Engineer to join our payment transaction processing team providing the expertise required to ensure our S1 Postilion EFT Switch transaction processing infrastructure, which runs on an AIX/DB2 platform, continues to operate securely, effectively and efficiently. You are an expert in systems design and management, and have experience with the IBM AIX/DB2 platform. As a senior member of the IS production team, The Switch Applications Engineer will track and diagnose production and development issues, conduct testing for new clients and assist with provision of switch related support. You will also have the opportunity to scope and design new features, products, interfaces and technology and share responsibility for all external transaction switching gateways, such as Interac, Moneris, Cirrus and others.

The person we choose for this role will be an expert in systems design, management and disaster recovery processes honed in a zero down-time environment. They will be proficient querying databases such as DB2 and MS SQL, monitoring MPLS, TCP/IP communication systems, a skilled user of the Interac Inter-Member Network (IMN) node, have knowledge of Java development techniques complimented by a multi-disciplined approach to troubleshooting and solutions development.

A post secondary diploma, or product certification based on the MS Windows 2000/2003 Enterprise management platform, experience administering the IBM AIX / DB2 platform, and ABM systems equipment familiarity with NCR, Diebold or Wincor products are minimum requirements for this role. Hands-on experience with Postilion Switch Infrastructure Design is not mandatory but would be a bonus. This is a permanent afternoon shift running from 2:00pm until 10:00pm to provide service to our West Coast clients. It also requires availability to join the on-call support rotation for after-hours Tier II technical support for the switch application.
